Engaging Children and Youth in Disaster Risk Reduction is hard work.
2021 National Preparedness Month is recognized in the United States each September to promote family and community disaster planning now and throughout the year. As countries around world continue to respond to COVID-19, there is no better time to be prepared. This year, each week has a different topic.
Week 3 looks at "youth preparedness". In this episode we speak with Dr. Tamara Plush, and International Development Consultant who does a lot of consulting in this area. For example, Tamara led a global team as the lead author and coordinator of the "Words into Action guide: On the Frontline of DRR and Resilience: Children and Youth Engagement Guide for Implementing the Sendai Framework".
In this episode, we talk to Tamara about some of her thoughts on how to best engage children and youth in disaster preparedness.
