Coronavirus is soon to become the latest global health pandemic. When people think of disasters, they don’t always think about health pandemics- the spread of viruses and disease. But historically, hundreds of thousands of people have been infected and even died from cholera, the bubonic plaque, small pox, yellow fever, SARS, H1N1, Ebola, and the Zika virus to name a few. The latest scary virus that has captured the world’s attention is the “coronavirus”. At the time of this video taping, the virus has already caused a lockdown of 56 million people in China, disrupted travel plans around the globe and sparked a run on medical masks from Wuhan, China to the U.S., Canada, and beyond. The purpose of this MYD episode is to further explore what can be done to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. In this interview, we speak with Carolyn Cross, Chairman and CEO of Ondine Biomedical Inc. about how deploying their nasal photodisinfection technology may help reduce potential transmission of the coronavirus. Given the virus' short history to date, it is going to take all hands on deck to stop its global spread. Hopefully nasal photodisinfection will be one of the solutions considered before this potential global health disaster takes any more lives.
