Technology: Preparing the World for Disasters

For over 20 years, the Pacific Disaster Center (PDC-Global) has been developing new technologies and best practices to help mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. They work with government, NGOs and relief organizations. Their DisasterAWARE technology provides global risk intelligence, early warning, and collection of global, scientifically verified geospatial data and modeling tools for assessing risk and hazard impacts.

Joel Myhre furthers the PDC Partnerships and Engagement Programs in Geneva with UN Partners and has a range of experience in the disaster field. In this episode we speak with Joel about some of the fantastic work being done at the Pacific Disaster Center in Maui, and how local, regional and national governments and organizations can partner with them in helping become more prepared and resilient to disasters.
