How to build resilient communities by reducing disaster risk


Increasingly, disaster risk reduction is becoming an important way to build resilent communities. Organizations around the world are looking at ways they can mitigate their risk through adopting innovative techniques and solutions.


Elaine Angeles is a humanitarian and development professional with over a decade of experience in project management, partnerships and knowledge management. She brings a practitioner perspective, and knowledge of environmental sciences and policy applied to complex emergencies and development issues. She's also passionate about inclusive, sustainable development, and increasing the use of scientific data and innovation in building resilient communities. 


Currently Elaine is a Humanitarian Affairs Adviser, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction, for the Delegation of the IFRC to the UN. In this MYD Global episode we talk to Elaine about some of the important Disaster Risk Reduction work she is doing to build resilient communities.
