Food Security & Disasters

Food security and disasters is a very important issue. Whether it be a natural disaster like a hurricane, flood or drought, or a pandemic like COVID-19; having a secure food system in place is critical for response and recovery. As a result of COVID-19, many communities are starting to worry about their long term food security.

In this MYD Global episode, we speak with Zale Tabakman, Founder of Local Grown Salads in Ontario. Zale's company is focused on growing, harvesting and packaging organic ready to eat salads. By doing this, they are able to grow food where people live, improve food safety, reduce the use of pesticides and insecticides, and create jobs and investment opportunities. We also talk about how his model can help create jobs and feed communities around the world in the future.
