Flood Emergency Planning for Disaster Resilience

Flood Emergency Planning for Disaster Resilience is part of the Australian Disaster Resilience Handbook Collection. It fulfils a critical role in ongoing improvement to the sector’s disaster preparation, response, and recovery under the policy framework established by the National Strategy for Disaster Resilience (Council of Australian Governments 2011).

As such, the handbook recognizes that emergency management for flooding is a shared responsibility that requires government investment in partnering with communities to develop flood emergency plans. The handbook reflects increasing national and international focus on the need to reduce disaster risk and build disaster resilience.
