Being WaterSMART for Floods and Droughts is becoming increasingly important. Whether it be floods or drought- effective water resource management is critical. In 2004, Kim Sturgess envisioned a new model for water management in Alberta. Since then, WaterSMART has been widely recognized for its work in collaborative watershed management and contributions to key issues of flood and drought management. It operates under the premise that water is one of our most precious commodities.
Today, WaterSMART is known for its industry experts, engineers, environmental scientists, facilitators, communicators, and policy advisors. In this MYD Global episode, we talk to Kim about why water management is so important for communities- as well as some of the things we all need to think about as we develop effective strategies to manage this important resource in the future.
