Disasters: Turning a Crisis into an Opportunity- High River, Canada

When disasters hit a community, they can either totally devastate individuals and businesses, or become a catalyst for opportunity. Many communities have used a disaster to re-invent themselves.

In 2013, the Town of High River, Canada, experienced record levels of flooding, including significant damage to its downtown district. Following the flood, Angela Groeneveld was hired to work with the business community to help it recover as quickly as possible. Over the next few years, the Town of High River made a number of strategic investments in building back better not just the same. As a result, today, it is stronger, and more resilient than before.

In this episode, Angela talks about some of the work she did with the business community to help turn crisis into an opportunity.
