The New Bern Hurricane Relief Fund and Business Recovery

Disasters cause strains on financial resources. The New Bern Hurricane Relief Fund is a great example of how non-government financial vehicles can help support business and community recovery efforts.

Swiss Bear is the downtown development corporation in the City of New Bern, North Carolina. It supports businesses in the downtown region.

When Hurricane Florence flooded the downtown, many businesses were flooded too. Within two weeks, the downtown had been cleaned up, businesses were reopened, and the annual Mum Fest was underway.

In this episode Lynne talks about how Swiss Bear established the New Bern Relief Fund to help businesses, and how they are continuing to help support them today.
